Although there are many talented people in the Drama Department, Senior Gavin Welcher particularly stands out for his talent, as well as his love for and commitment to the program. Welcher has been a part of BeDrama since freshman year. He emphasizes how welcoming and inviting the environment has been right from the start. He strongly feels that this factor is one of the main things that made him stick with it all four years. Welcher says, “I’ve always been a theater kid, but I didn’t really start acting until high school.” Although he has had a wondrous time in Drama in general, he admits that his favorite memories would have to be from the weeks leading up to a show. Welcher elaborates that “they were the best because everyone was doing their part.” He said that his favorite part of drama was those times where he got to just be there in the auditorium with everyone. He added that it was “always a good time there.”
Welcher noted that throughout all four years in the program he met many people and made many friends. Although Gavin is very grateful for receiving this award, he is humble. He said he believes that “everyone in the drama department deserves this award.” He added that, “everyone has put in an equal amount of work for both of the productions this year, and each person has shown how committed they truly are which genuinely helps us put on a great show.”

He is unsure of what his plans are for after high school. As of now, Welcher is planning to attend OCC for his first two years after highschool, and then transferring to another college for his last two year. Although BHS is sad to see Gavin Welcher go, we can watch him leave with memories of all his marvelous contributions that he’s made to the Drama department, and we can all wish him the best of luck with his future plans ahead.
