So You Want My Job: Lindsay Dudovitz
This article is part of an ongoing series here at The Spectator called, So You Want My Job. In these articles, we take a look at high school students with part-time jobs, to give others an understanding. Today, I am interviewing senior Lindsay Dudovitz, a dancer at a party-based entertainment company called StarTrax. If you are a mentally flexible, outgoing student, Lindsay Dudovitz may have a job that could interest you.
Tell us about yourself (where are you from, where/what is your job
and how long have you been working there?)
“My name is Lindsay Dudovitz, I live in Huntington Woods, and I work for a company called StarTrax. I have been working on the team for the past month. StarTrax is an interactive entertainment company that gets hired to entertain big parties and events.”
Tell us about your position working here. How many hours do you work and what do you do in those hours?
“My position at StarTrax is helping with any of the activities at the events. This can include the photo booth, tattoos, body glitter, basketball, cotton candy, and many more. I am there to help with whatever is needed for the certain event. I am also able to become a dancer and help get everyone to the dance floor. My work times vary, depending on how long the event is, which is usually around six hours.”
How do you balance your work, school, and social life?
“Balancing my work life, school, and social life can sometimes be tricky, but I make sure to always get my schoolwork done early and make sure I’m available to attend all our school events. I have developed good time-management skills that have helped me keep a good balance.”
What is the worst/best thing about your job?
“The best thing about my job is getting to go to so many cool and unbelievable parties. The worst thing is when the activity I am working isn’t very popular, and I am just standing around for the majority of the night.”
What was the best/coolest party you have worked?
The coolest event I have worked at was a carnival-themed bar mitzvah. They had a whole carnival set up in their backyard with a ferris wheel, carnival games, popcorn and cotton candy machine, Xbox, prizes, and more.[/pullquote] They also had famous people there such as Shaquille O’neal, Pistons players, Mark Henry, and some other basketball players, and WWE wrestlers.”
Any specific stories or memories you have?
“At the carnival Bar Mitzvah, my job was to do body glitter and these stick-on rhinestones. It was the hit of the party- everyone from kids to grandparents lined up to get bedazzled. The WWE wrestler, Mark Henry came over to get some rhinestones and he was so tall I had to have him not only squat down, but I had to get a chair to put them on his face.”
