Artificial intelligence (AI) has started to take over the driver’s seat in daily life. People can make pictures and plans and generate new ideas through a revolutionary tool. Teens and adults are asking AI to give them tips on assignments or questions they have about their work, and it is changing the way the world functions. We are entering a new era of artificial intelligence.
A common theme that has spread worldwide is AI chatbots in the format of the popular website ChatGPT. A person types a question through a text input box, and the AI responds with information gathered from the internet throughout many years. That method has become more popular with many companies such as Google, Microsoft, Snapchat, Apple, and many others. Those companies weren’t originally made with it, but the popularity surge and usefulness of AI have caused them to implement it into their system.
According to business.fiu.edu companies are incorporating AI into their business because it has a high level of operational efficiency, it has data-driven market research, and it has smaller AI tools that can improve employee/customer relationship enhancement. “AI enables businesses to offer personalized experiences to customers and employees by analyzing their preferences and behaviors.”
A new update that you might see in 2025 is the inclusion of autonomous AI agents. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and Google will be using this feature. Humans will use AI agents to figure out ways to solve goals that the humans insert. The human would ask the AI to book a flight or set the next meeting, and without much work from the human, their task would be done. It looks through human search engines and things the human has shown they liked and solves the task in the way the human would want it such as: a the person likes earlier reservations based on past reservations they made, so the AI would schedule the dinner for 5:30. Humans will be able to override the agent in case the agent messes up its task or the human doesn’t have trust in the AI. In the last few years, a popular AI development has been AI images. The images have gotten more accurate and detailed. But this year, in addition to the images getting more defined, there are new strives for making videos out of AI. Open.AI (creators of ChatGPT) has been experimenting with and creating a project called Sora to make AI videos and are trying to make it available to the public in 2025.
Also, there will be new and improved voice assistants like the popular Siri or Alexa. OpenAI wants to create voice assistants that can have human-like conversations with actual humans. The person who talks to the voice assistant will be able to interrupt the AI and have a smoother, more realistic conversation.
A big question or fear people have is: What jobs is AI going to replace or affect?
One job that is looking to be greatly affected by AI is graphic design. With new updates and increased technology, AI is creating images left and right much quicker than it would take a human to do manually. Humans may still have a role in graphic design, because a human still has to work with the AI to create the image, but the value of the job may change.
AI is also able to write code at a much faster rate than humans. Coders may be greatly affected by AI and won’t be able to keep up with the speed of AI creating the code. In the future, truck and car drivers might be taken over by autonomous vehicles. Self-driving cars may be much more efficient than the human drivers. According to builtin.com, “Uber has partnered with self-driving car companies like Waymo and Aurora to give its riders more options, potentially setting up a conflict with its human drivers.”
AI is able to read and correct articles in less than a few seconds. Software like Grammarly has already played a big role in proofreading papers. The human proofreader will not be needed nearly as much due to the speed of AI.
In factories and warehouses, there are already lots of robots and machines. But humans normally run those machines. AI has the ability to control and program the machines to do their job correctly and at a quick pace. Humans require a salary and limited hours, while AI could do their job at no pay and do it for a very long duration.
Jobs in delivery and driving haven’t been affected by AI yet. But drones and robots could start to take the spot of humans. If autonomous vehicles could do the driving, and robots or drones could complete the delivery, there is no need for humans to be involved.
AI is able to take in large amounts of data and analyze it in a quick period of time. Research jobs like market research analysts and financial analysts could be taken over by AI. They can present the research and find patterns in a very easy way, to where the human might not be able to do it as effectively.
For some, it may be scary. But there are a lot of jobs that can’t be taken away by robots or AI. Jobs like therapists, coaches, trainers, surgeons, designers, teachers, and many other jobs. Sometimes, the human element is just irreplaceable. The jobs that require constant repetition and more quantitative data might be affected by AI in great margins. AI may also lead to the creation of new jobs, and new opportunities that humans have never seen.
The world is always changing and adapting. AI is just the next step forward into the future.
