Review: Anyone But You

The new rom-com, “Anyone But You” directed by Will Gluck, has become a hit since its release on December 22nd. Despite initial doubts, people are loving it, giving it amazing reviews compared to other and newer rom-com movies. The movie’s positive and funny vibe is making the movie very popular. Many especially enjoy the famous song “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfeild in the film, inspiring people to make TikTok videos using the song. Younger audiences, in particular, are loving the movie and social media influencers are telling others to go watch it.

The movie begins in a coffee shop where Beatrice (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) cross paths for the first time. After an amazing first date, things take a turn over a significant miscommunication, causing lots of tension between the two when they coincidentally fly out to the same wedding in Australia. After creating problems, the other family members play matchmaker to keep the peace. Beatrice and Ben reluctantly go along with the plan.

As the story folds out, the endearing yet crazy journey of Beatrice and Ben continues to grab the audience’s attention. The tension, adding a twist to their relationship, becomes a key element, having viewers at the edge of their seats.

The wedding setting in Australia adds a beautiful backdrop to the story, making the film visually appealing. The scenes capture the stunning landscapes and vibrant atmosphere of Australia, creating a beautiful setting for Beatrice and Ben’s adventures. As you watch their story unfold, you’ll not only laugh at the funny parts but also see moments of real feelings during the surprising twists in their connection.

Though “Anyone But You” has gathered such great feedback, some have expressed that the plot is very predictable. It follows typical rom-com patterns, and while it is overall a solid movie, it doesn’t bring a completely fresh twist to the genre. Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell did an amazing job with their acting. Their on-screen connection felt genuine, and they expressed emotions very well.

“Anyone But You” brings an exciting journey to the audience which so many people love. Beatrice and Ben’s story goes from intense tension to funny chaos, keeping the viewers entertained. We cheer for the characters and laugh at their setbacks, and the movie is a good time overall. If you want a film with laughs, love, and a bit of craziness, “Anyone But You” is the perfect choice.
