Students at Berkley High School are preparing for Halloweekend. The holiday allows people to express themselves creatively and have fun doing it. With a five-day break, the preparation for the holiday has already begun. Let’s dive into how they plan on dressing up, as well as their Halloween plans.
This year, students are dressing up in a wide range of costumes. Many know that people like to dress up as the latest trends, some dress up with friends, and others come up with costumes on their own. Costumes can let people express themselves through creating their own or using inspiration from the media.
One student, Eliza Bressack, a senior who finds joy in crocheting, has already spent 30+ hours creating her Batgirl costume, inspired by her interest in comic books. Eliza plans on “crocheting the top completely and sewing on a bat symbol.” The costume is coming from her passion for crocheting, and so she can “make it more how [she wants] it to look, rather than purchasing it.” The immense amount of creativity is a piece that makes Berkley unique.
Freshman Emitt Allen is dressing up as Theodore from Alvin and the Chipmunks. He explains, “It’s a friend costume, I like to hang out with my friends, which is why we are dressing up together.”. One sophomore, Harper Kobernick plans on being “Dorothy” from the Wizard of Oz. Some students even plan on dressing up multiple times for different events. Sophomore Abby Hirschorn states, “I’m gonna dress up as Serena from Gossip Girl,” and “It’s a duo costume with my friend who is gonna be Blair.”. Robert Anantharam, a senior plans on being a character from the famous “Clash Royale”.From a Chipmunk to Serena Van Der Woodson, the costumes are unique this year. These play a part in the Halloween spirit that runs throughout the school.
With a costume comes Halloween plans. Some go to parties, while others go trick-or-treating. However, one thing is for sure: Halloween is going to be a blast this year. Senior Scarlett Buick claims that she will be trick-or-treating. “That is a non-negotiable.” However, “I would like it if someone hosted a Halloween party.” The idea of going out and receiving candy may sound childish, but it “ties in another aspect of childhood, like a throwback,” states Buick. Students from all grades like to take pictures in their costumes, claim it’s a fun, creative outlet, and a bonding experience with friends.
This Halloween, students at Berkley High are showcasing their creativity, humor, and spirit through a wide range of costumes. They are celebrating with friends and family, which is an aspect of the joy of the holiday. Expect nothing but fun for this Halloween.Whether spooky, silly, or stylish, their outfits reflect not only the fun of the season but also the unique personalities that make the school community so diverse.
