Located in the heart of downtown Royal Oak sits the all new restaurant: Royal Eats. Opening just around four months ago at the end of 2025, Royal Eats hosts an extensive menu of items blending American classics with unique original dishes. The interior lays out an abundance of seating with vibrant walls and decoration, but the real question is, how does the food compare? In this article, I will be guiding you through popular and delicious food at Royal Oak’s all-new brunch and dinner destination
Atmosphere & Service
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a host and told to sit wherever I liked. I also walked into a beautiful portrait of parts of Royal Oak and other well known Detroit locations, which I thought was pretty cool. The restaurant was brightly lit, and there was plenty of seating, including booths and tables. I thought that for all the restaurants I’ve been to, this was by far the cleanest and best taken care of so far. The floors were spotless, as were the tables. As far as the service goes, everyone working was incredibly friendly and checked in on us often. My food did not take long to come, and overall, I was extremely happy with the atmosphere and service of Royal Eats.
Pancakes – $5
It isn’t hard to mess up a classic breakfast of pancakes, and Royal Eats definitely didn’t do that. While the menu offers a wide variety of pancake/waffle meals, such as Nutella pancakes and strawberry waffles, I ordered three regular pancakes as a side. These pancakes did not disappoint;I thought that the fluffiness and sweetness of the pancakes, with an appropriate amount of syrup, tasted delicious. I ate all three pancakes, and I can confidently say that they did a great job of filling me up. As a side dish, I definitely think that the pancakes were the best tasting food for a low price. 8.5/10
Chicken and Waffles – $17
Easily my favorite dish I had was the Chicken and Waffles. A delicious Belgian waffle covered with crispy breaded chicken tenders and drizzles of hot honey, this meal did not disappoint. The waffle was a fair size, but what really stood out to me was the abundance of chicken. At other restaurants in which I have ordered chicken and waffles, I have found that they are often stingy with their chicken, giving just a few pieces. Rather, at Royal Eats, I had plenty of chicken to accompany my waffle. Besides the proportions, I thought that the chicken was perfectly cooked, and I found the waffle had just enough powdered sugar and hot honey to make my mouth water. While expensive, these chicken and waffles were worth the price. 9/10
R.O. Burrito – $18
Switching it up from sweet breakfast options, I decided to order one of the many savory dishes. With a wide range of options, I personally chose the R.O. Burrito, consisting of eggs, onions, bell peppers, skillet potatoes, and other ingredients. It was a pretty hefty burrito; I was pleasantly surprised with the size for the amount I paid. I thought the eggs and potatoes both tasted delicious, making the burrito spotlight worthy. 8/10
As far as fun breakfast restaurants go, Royal Eats is one of the favorites I’ve ever been to. While the menu can be a bit pricey, the atmosphere is vibrant, the service is top-tier, and the food is exceptional. This leads me to believe that despite the prices, the experience is worth every penny and more. I would recommend Royal Eats to anyone who wants to have a truly unique and fun experience.
