Be Well: Off-Campus Lunch just got Healthier

Berkley has a variety of places that students can go for lunch. There are places to get pizza, coffee, chicken, and so much more. But until a few weeks ago there was one thing that was missing: a place for healthy food.

On October 16th, that problem was solved by the healthy restaurant and chiropractic center Be Well. In Addition to the new location, there is an existing one in Birmingham. This location is extremely popular, receiving an average of a four-star review on Yelp. One of their most delicious items are their açai bowls—smoothie based bowls with toppings such as fruit and granola. Some açai bowls include the ‘Original Açai Bowl’ and the ‘Chocolate Açai Bowl’. Another customer-favorite item is their smoothies such as the ‘Alive’ smoothie and the ‘Coffee’ smoothie.

As mentioned above, before Be Well there were truly no places near the school to get a good healthy meal. Although some popular student lunch places such as Starbucks and Einstein’s can give students a good enough meal to get them through their afternoon classes, they aren’t incredibly healthy. Students love to go off-campus for lunch but it is done at the expense of eating a fulfilling, healthy lunch. With the addition of Be Well, students can still go out with their friends but have the opportunity to make a healthy choice!

Not only is Be Well a popular place to get healthy food, the service there is top tier. When walking in you are immediately greeted by the staff and feel welcomed. Along with being able to order in-person, you are also able to order online and get the choice to get the food brought to your car or pick it up inside. Either way you get to select the time you want your food to be ready, and it is guaranteed to be waiting at the selected time. Senior and Be Well regular Penelope Cohen is hoping for that same experience at the Berkley location. “The staff at Be Well Birmingham are all so nice. When I go in there they make small talk with me and make sure they are helping me the best they can and when I call to place an order, they even recognize my voice because I have formed such a relationship with the staff. I hope Berkley Be Well hires just as nice employees as Birmingham!” If the Berkley employees live up to the standard the Birmingham ones set, all students will be feeling the same way Cohen does.

Overall, everything about Be Well makes it a perfect spot for students to grab lunch. They truly meet all the criteria for what students need: a healthy restaurant with delicious food, great service, and the ability to get the food right when you get there. Next time you are not sure where you want to eat, stop by the new Berkley location of Be Well on the corner of Coolidge and 12 Mile and see what the magic is all about.
