We have all experienced the moment when we have gotten gifts that have been surprising, upsetting, or even unexpected. The holidays are a very hectic time of year for many people. Some individuals have little time to pick out gifts for their friends and family, or they give a last-minute gift that they probably didn’t want. Even if either of those things has happened to you, to ensure you receive the gift you desire, there are endless ways to create a holiday wish list. Apps, slideshows, websites, all different versions to pick out all of the items you hope to receive while opening up your presents.
You could always just write what you want for the holidays on a piece of paper, but to make your list more fitting for online shopping, there are lots of ways to do so. Students make slide presentations for school projects, so most people are used to making slide shows. Google Slides is a great way to present your products by simply inserting pictures and links and customizing colors and themes to make it as convincing as possible. Another way is to use the Wish List feature on Amazon to add Amazon products you want by hearting them. Though this limits products only from Amazon, there are still lots of options. Target also has a similar wish list feature that allows you to add any of the products they sell. Gifster is a similar concept, except it’s its own website that helps create your public or private list that you can send to others and easily add products to by inserting a link, and the picture pops up with the link. Giftful is also a great app and website to use. You can customize your wish list by shopping through the app and adding anything else you want. Similar to Instagram, you can set up your own profile and interact with friends and family by following them to see what they might have put on their lists. You can also see what was claimed to ensure you won’t buy them the same thing, and also, when creating your list, you can see the total cost of everything. Websites, including Canva, have templates that make it very simple to create a wish list.
These options offer many possibilities to gain gifts. All of the options are great to use and make it easy to access and share; it honestly just depends on what you want to use. I talked to Junior Riley Gutman to hear her opinion on wish lists. Gutman has been making her holiday wish lists since middle school. I asked her why she does so, and she says, “So all the people in my family can see what types of gifts I want so they don’t have to guess.” She prefers to create her wish list on Giftful as it is more aesthetic and easier to use, compared to using Amazon in the past. Gutman’s friends and family do a good job at following her requests, which gets her more excited for the holidays and is just another reason to look forward to.
With many ways to create your list, there are also so many great items you might want to add. It’s good to brainstorm ideas, thinking about what things you need and will use for the future. Also, including gift cards to certain places you might shop at or grab a bite to eat is helpful. Adding items that go on sale for Black Friday and Cyber Monday is something to take into consideration as well. Overall, it is important to have fun and be creative while making a wish list and knowing that no matter what gifts you get, it is not the sole focus for the holidays.
