Berkley is remarkably adaptable city that is constantly evolving. With all the new improvements and surprises coming to the city, a new restaurant is making its debut on the corner of Coolidge and Beverly. “The Beverly” joins the Berkley scene, serving a variety of Midwestern American dishes. It offers a fine dining experience with a vast menu of delicious and unique foods!
Managing partners Travis Fourmount and Norman Valenti opened the restaurant on Jan. 30, 2026 and have had a steady flow of reservations ever since. Ryan Arvin, General Manager of The Beverly, stated when discussing the opening that, “We had a smooth opening and things have only progressed since our first night.” Arvin went on to say, “The planning, hard work, and training that the entire Beverly team puts in shows.” The dedication to hospitality is clear, as the work that the staff puts into the restaurant truly shows in the atmosphere, and sets up an easily flowing and welcoming environment.
The Beverly is a unique addition to Berkley with a more upscale atmosphere, Arvin touches on the differences when saying, “We try to take a non-pretentious approach of bringing a bit of downtown Detroit closer to home.” In regards to the cuisine, Arvin also states, “Both Chef Norm and Chef Chris enjoy the flavors and nostalgia of Midwestern American comfort food. We take old favorites and elevate them just a tiny bit to showcase the cooking techniques and skills of our chefs on the line.” Some of the favorites of the customers are the Tuesday special of meatloaf, the half chicken, and their smores from the dessert menu. Arvin mentioned that his favorite is the wings, but he really enjoys all of the nightly specials.
Fourmont and Valenti are not only partners at The Beverly, but also partners at a French themed restaurant named Bar Pigalle in Detroit. With a similar atmosphere to The Beverly, this restaurant became a great inspiration for their newest establishment. Fourmont explains that after a four-year success of Bar Pigalle, they hoped to open an American themed restaurant to appeal to a larger audience. Berkley specifically drew Fourmont’s attention as he lived in the area for about 15 years and always found it to have a sense of home. Fourmont went on to say, “I have always noticed there is a need for an elevated dining experience. I wanted to service the community I call home.”
Fourmont’s experience in the restaurant business is expansive, ranging from culinary school in the Seattle area, to being honored as the Best Detroit Bartender of 2012 and 2013 by Hour Magazine. Additionally, Woodford Reserve and Esquire Magazine voted him “Master of Manhattan” in a nationwide contest. From this, he explored the hospitality industry by consulting with owners, training bartenders, and implementing new bar efficiencies. To follow, he opened Bar Pigalle in 2022 and The Beverly in 2026.
“This new addition to Coolidge may draw new crowds and communities to Berkley. Arvin claims that the intended audience to The Beverly is for, “Anyone who is hungry and enjoys our take on American cuisine! There’s nothing better than a diverse dining room of folks, all enjoying our food and beverage offerings.” The variety of food that American cuisine brings hopefully intrigues many across communities to come explore The Beverly and all its expansive options. Since there are new specials every night, it adds a sense of intrigue to the menu for guests, with something different to explore each time you go.
Berkley is excited for the new additions coming its way and The Beverly is definitely one of them! Arvin states that he sees “The Beverly on the moon in the future, with a long lasting and impressionable success.” The restaurant can hopefully become an integral part of the community and have a long history of success.
